April 21 — Lightning illuminated the sky over Minneapolis City Hall. Photojournalist Aaron Lavinsky was editing video in the Star Tribune’s brand-new offices when an editor mentioned there was lightning visible from the windows. “After 25 or 30 attempts to take the picture, I uploaded everything onto my computer and wasn’t happy with what I shot,” said Lavinsky. So he ventured back with his Nikon D4 for one more try and caught this eye-popping strike within a minute.
